New essay 'The Erotic Circle' available

I had the great honor of being part Adult Analysis Anthology #4, which released last week on itch.io. My essay, The Erotic Circle is about how theories of play relate to eroticism, and how this can interplay with long-distance relationships.

In Homo Ludens the Magic Circle is a throwaway item amongst many considered to have an alternative cognitive space: "The arena, the card-table, the magic circle, the temple, the stage, the screen, the tennis court, the court of justice, etc." Like a backronym, I like the conceptual power of extending this list to prove a point. Other things we could include: The kink party, the sex club, the skinny dipping lake, the bedroom, the pup hood with leash and collar. The pervasiveness of "play" as a term in kink space is no accident, it is a fundamental aspect of sexual exploration. To explore there must be space, and to summon this space we draw the circle.

You can buy the whole anthology on Itch.io if you want to read it right now! It will be published on the web later, but I highly recommend purchasing the anthology to support these kind of conversations!

Praise for The Erotic Circle

Seeing you describe our relationship like that was both really interesting and beautiful. It made me think about the stuff we do in a more powerful way.

A good job of concisely presenting the intervention on the theory in a way that still felt very warm, rather than clinical
